Tim & Diane were introduced to Louise by a neighbour with an Idesign kitchen. They had recently purchased Mulberry Cottage and were looking to re-vamp the tired, cramped kitchen.
Tim & Diane knew what they wanted; a traditional style kitchen to include a range cooker, plenty of storage and seating for four. The only challenge was to make it all fit!
With very little natural light and typically low ceilings the decision was taken to remove the main kitchen wall that divided the kitchen from the front lobby and stairs. A steel structural support needed to be inserted as this was a main load-bearing wall. Electrics had to be installed and provision made for new lighting, the room was then plastered in readiness for the new kitchen.
Tim & Diane selected a solid character oak door with Angola Black granite, limestone floor and tumbled marble wall tiles. Keeping with the traditional theme a stunning double French farmhouse sink was installed; all appliances were integrated with the exception of the black range cooker and hood.
Tim & Diane got their seating in the form of an island, ideal too for food preparation and serving.
Storage needs were met with the addition of a mid-height larder unit in an awkward area between the stairs and the shower room; this was fitted with pullout wire racks for ease of access.
Louise was keen to use the whole space and, knowing that both Tim & Diane enjoy outdoor pursuits she designed a seated area just inside the front door with storage units below. Ideal for sitting and putting on their boots in readiness for a brisk walk in the woods.
Tim & Diane now have the kitchen they always desired and one that complements the Cottage and their lifestyle beautifully.
